Feb. 15, 2010 8:42 am
The last three winners of the Big Ten Player of the Week have a common theme: they all played against Iowa the week before earning the award.
Purdue junior center JaJuan Johnson was named Big Ten Player of the Week this morning. On Saturday he posted 21 points and 10 rebounds against Iowa. He also scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds against Michigan State earlier in the week.
On. Feb. 8, Illinois guard Demetri McCamey and Ohio State guard Evan Turner shared league honors. McCamey scored 15 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished seven assists against Iowa on Feb. 3. Turner tied a career high with 32 points, while grabbing seven rebounds and giving up five assists on Feb. 7.
Iowa plays Michigan on Tuesday in its only game this week. Both Michigan guard Manny Harris and post DeShawn Sims have earned Big Ten Player of the Week awards previously this season.
