It's official: Rick Kaczenski is Nebraska's new defensive line coach

Dec. 22, 2011 3:30 pm
It wasn't any big secret, but Nebraska football coach Bo Pelini announced Thursday that Rick Kaczenski is his new defensive line coach.
Kaczenski resigned from the same position on Kirk Ferentz's Iowa staff earlier this week, at least officially. This didn't all come together just this week, of course.
Kaczenski was Iowa's DL coach for five years. Here's part of Pelini's prepared statement on the hiring:
"Rick Kaczenski is a great addition to our coaching staff, and fits our football program perfectly. I have great respect for the program at the University of Iowa and their defenses have annually been among the best in the nation. Rick's track record of developing defensive linemen speaks for itself. When I've watched Iowa's defense and in particular the defensive line, I see players that have great technique and fundamentals, who also play with a high level of intensity."
Kaczenski will waste little time. He'll be with the Cornhuskers for their Capital One Bowl against South Carolina.
LeVar Woods will be Iowa's interim DL coach at the Insight Bowl. After that? We'll see.
