Iowa's Moore named USA Wrestling's Athlete of the Week

University of Iowa's Nick Moore received recognition for a successful weekend of competition.
The 165-pound junior improved to 13-2 this season, beating Oklahoma State's second-ranked Tyler Caldwell, helping the Hawkeyes to a 24-6 victory Friday over the Cowboys at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Moore, ranked fifth, scored a takedown with 15 seconds remaining in the one-minute sudden-victory overtime period for a 3-1 decision.
Moore followed that with a 13-3 major decision over Indiana's Ryan Leblanc, tallying five takedowns on Sunday. Iowa beat Indiana, 38-4, at home, and are 10-1 overall and 3-0 in the Big Ten Conference.
Moore, a national qualifier last season, has won his last four bouts, including three straight Big Ten matches. he placed fourth at the Big Ten Championships in 2013. He was a four-time state champion, losing one match during his prep career at Iowa City West.
