Iowa to take 600 to Orange Bowl game

The University of Iowa is planning to take about 600 people to Miami for next month's Orange Bowl between the Hawkeyes and Georgia Tech.
That includes about 300 from the band and spirit squad, plus university administrators, athletic department officials and the football team. Relatives of staffers are also eligible if they get an OK from department heads.
The bowl party list will go through Athletic Director Gary Barta.
Iowa's bowl payout is $4.5 million, which goes to the Big Ten Conference through a revenue-sharing agreement with member schools. The Hawkeyes then get nearly $2 million from the league to cover costs.
Any money left over goes to the athletic department general fund.
Iowa earned $1.65 million for last year's Outback Bowl. It spent about $1.5 million.
