Iowa, Nebraska to unveil traveling trophy details Friday morning
Jul. 26, 2011 10:04 am
Iowa Athletic Director Gary Barta and Nebraska counterpart Tom Osborne plan to unveil details of a traveling football trophy between the schools Friday morning in Chicago.
Iowa and Nebraska will play Friday, Nov. 25 in Lincoln, Neb., and end the regular season against one another for at least the next four seasons. Nebraska moves from the Big 12 to the Big Ten this year, and both schools play in the Legends Division.
The game will be the fourth trophy game for Iowa. The Hawkeyes play Minnesota for "Floyd of Rosedale," Wisconsin for the "Heartland Trophy" and Iowa State for the modernized "Cy-Hawk Trophy."
I think the schools should play for a pitchfork -- dull-bladed of course -- to symbolize the agricultural traditions of both states. What do you think?
I think Iowa and Nebraska should play every year for a pitchfork.
