Iowa-Minnesota to stick with traditional football finale
May. 18, 2010 8:31 pm
Iowa and Minnesota athletics officials engaged in casual conversations last fall to consider shifting the teams' annual finale to the Friday following Thanksgiving.
This year, anyway, the teams will play the game on a Saturday.
"We're just keeping where it's at," Minnesota Coach Tim Brewster said. "There hasn't been any discussion of moving the game.
"I feel good about playing the game where it is right now."
The teams are scheduled to play at Minnesota's new TCF Stadium on Nov. 27. It's one of five Big Ten games scheduled that day. There are no Big Ten football games scheduled for Thanksgiving or the Friday following the holiday. Illinois, however, is scheduled to end its season on Friday, Dec. 3 at Fresno State.
