Iowa football ticket update on Nebraska, Northern Illinois games
Aug. 6, 2012 12:08 pm
Iowa's football season tickets continue to sell at a brisk rate with general public tickets available for only a handful of games this year.
Iowa ticket manager Pam Finke said the school has seats available for the Northern Iowa (Sept. 15) and Central Michigan (Sept. 22) games, including children's tickets for $25. Only a handful of single tickets are open for the Nov. 10 home game against Purdue and the rest of the games are sold out.
Finke said demand was high from the general public, and the ticket office had to offer split-season general tickets for new buyers.
"I wasn't able to do many season tickets at all," Finke said. "It surprised me to me some extent."
Iowa's student tickets have not reached capacity, however. The school allocates between 10,000 and 10,500 tickets per game to students.
"We have more student tickets available this year than last year," she said. "But we still expect them to sell out."
Iowa will host Nebraska on Nov. 23, the day following Thanksgiving, and the school offered students a chance to buy season tickets for six or seven home games. Finke said about 1,800 students -- most of whom travel out of state for the holiday -- opted out of the Nebraska game. Finke said the official policy has not been set, but it's likely current student season-ticket holders will receive first dibs on those tickets, followed by other students. The remaining tickets likely will be offered for sale to the public based on membership levels.
Iowa also has sold out of its 17,000-ticket allotment for the team's opener against Northern Illinois at Chicago's Soldier Field. Iowa's tickets were set in the lower bowl, part of the second level, the end zone and club-seating area. Finke said tickets are available through Ticketmaster.
