IOWA CITY — Nebraska kept Iowa from a series sweep Sunday, winning 3-2 at Duane Banks Field.
The Huskers used a pair of unearned runs in the top of the seventh inning to avoid being swept.
'It's disappointing, we had an opportunity to make a big statement,' Iowa Coach Rick Heller said. 'It's still a good weekend, but not getting the sweep when it's right there at your fingertips hurts a little bit and it should.'
Iowa (23-15, 9-6 Big Ten) still won its fourth straight Big Ten series and is fourth in the Big Ten standings.
Junior Grant Judkins pitched seven innings and gave up just three hits and no walks and had four strikeouts.
Freshman Connor McCaffery hit his first career home run, a solo shot in the seventh inning, and sophomore Izaya Fullard added an RBI single in the eighth.
