Iowa Athletics Director talks about breaking ground on Carver project

The trees are coming down near Carver-Hawkeye Arena, and the parking lot is next. Iowa's renovation of Carver-Hawkeye Arena and new practice facility for the basketball program is underway.
Iowa Athletics Director Gary Barta spoke today about the project. Through minor tweaks, the cost is $43 million, down about $4 million for the earlier projection. The school has raised more than $15 million privately for the project and has a goal of $20 million. The entire renovation will take less than two years with it completed the summer of 2011.
