In her words: Iowa's Wahlin on basketball tour

University of Iowa senior Kamille Wahlin is writing a blog for TheGazette.com while she travels with her Hawkeye teammates across Europe. Wahlin is a history major from Crookston, Minn.

We made it to Europe!  It was a VERY long travel day but the team is really excited to be here.

 The days kind of blend together because of the time difference, but we left Iowa City at 10:45 a.m. (central time) Monday.  We bused to Chicago and flew out of O'Hare, but had some travel problems at the airport.  The airline had our reservations, but something was messed up with the tickets.  Our awesome Director of Basketball Operations Abby Emmert took care of the problems and we were off to the security line.  Those took forever!  We didn't have as much time to relax before our eight hour flight, but we were glad to be getting on the plane.

 We ended up sitting on the runway for an extra hour before we even took off and there were definitely some “upset” infants on the plane that made our eight hour flight interesting, to say the least.  It was pretty hard to sleep with the crying babies, but we made it work.

 We landed in Paris and we were seven hours ahead of Iowa time.  It was pretty weird to have that big of a time change.  We tried out some “interesting” food at the Paris airport with goat cheese, egg and spinach.  Kathryn Reynolds, Melissa Dixon and I gave it a try ... let's just leave it at that.

 We were all able to catch a nap on the two hour flight to Prague and got off the plane excited to FINALLY be at our destination.  We took a short bus tour around the city and saw Prague Castle from the outside, but it has been raining all day so we haven't been able to go out and see anything.  We are hoping that the rain goes away so we can see some of the city tonight.

 Well, it's time to help Kathryn figure out how to fold this city map ... she is struggling right now.  I will check back in tomorrow!
