The Hawkeye wrestling team beat Nebraska, 22-9, in Lincoln, Neb., on Saturday. Iowa won seven of ten matches, including a major decision from Tony Ramos. But three losses to ranked opponents in the middle weights had coach Tom Brands' attention.
"Those three matches - 149, 157, 174 - the whole country, or anyone paying attention to this dual meet, is talking about it, and we went 0-for-3," Brands said in a statement released by the team.
Top-ranked Derek St. John lost a 9-7 decision to third-ranked James Green, No. 13 Brody Grothus fell to No. 5 Jake Sueflohn, 5-2, and No. 6 Mike Evans dropped a 7-3 decision to No. 4 Robert Kokesh.
KCRG's Josh Christensen has the highlights above.
