A handful of University of Iowa football players read to students at Mark Twain Elementary School this morning.
It's part of the Hawkeye Readers program, where student-athletes serve as role models by talking about the importance of reading, among other things.
Participating football players included Ricky Stanzi, Julian Vandervelde, and James Vandenberg.
University of Iowa Guard Julian Vandervelde looks on as Quarterback James Vandenberg reads to Mary GoodfellowÕs third and fourth grade class at Mark Twain Elementary School in Iowa City on Monday, April 19, 2010. The event is part of the Hawkeye Readers program which stresses to children the importance of reading.
