Gazette Staff/SourceMedia
Feb. 9, 2011 3:43 pm
Austin Blythe 6'3, 285 lbs. OL, Williamsburg High School Williamsburg, IA, Ed Thomas Award nominee, 2 Time First Team-All State
Here were my 5 questions with Austin
Q: What are you most excited about being a Hawkeye?
A:The thing I'm most excited about is just getting to represent myself in a Hawkeye uniform and playing for coaches that are there!
Q: What are your goals for your freshman year at Iowa?
A: My main goal is to go in and work my butt off and help the team as much as I can. And if I end up playing then thatll be just fine by me.
Q: What players have you already built a bond with? Recruits/Current?
A: A few recruits that I've already really gotten to know are Jordan Walsh and Ray Hamilton. They're both very good guys to be around and awesome talented players!
Q: What was your reaction to the 13 Iowa players who were hospitalized?
A: I was a little shocked but it didn't make me waiver at all with my decision. I'm confident in the job that Coach Doyle and the rest of the staff is doing.
Q: Who do you most resemble your game after?
A: I don't really have anyone that I try and resemble really. I just try to go as hard as I can every play and dominate the guy across from me.
I really think Austin has a great opportunity to compete for a starting job as a guard this year along with other recruit Jordan Walsh. Austin is a hard nosed Iowa kid that we will all grow to love!
