First time since '06: Iowa, ISU both in AP hoops poll

Nov. 25, 2013 12:38 pm
It's Nov. 25, and this has already been a happily different year for men's college basketball in Iowa.
For the first time since the Nov. 15 poll of 2006, Iowa State and Iowa are both in the Associated Press' Top 25.
The newest rankings came out Monday, with the Cyclones up from 21st to 17th, and the Hawkeyes entering the poll for the first time since 2006 at No. 23. It's the first time the two have been ranked simultaneously since Iowa was 20th and ISU 25th seven years ago.
Basketball rankings in November aren't worth the price of a Grande at a Starbucks (or is that a Venti?), but 'tis better to be ranked than not.
By the way, teams that were ranked in the top 10 on Nov. 15, 2006, include Duke, Michigan State, Kentucky, Louisville and Arizona. All are in the current Top 10.
