First Cy-Hawk game with new financial agreement

AMES - Iowa State will keep all the gate from tonight's game, thanks to the second half of a financial agreement between the instate rivals.

The visiting school previously received 20 percent of the home gate from the annual event. However that became an issue in 2007 when the schools disagreed on the length of their contract. Iowa Athletics Director Gary Barta and Iowa State Athletics Director Jamie Pollard reached a new deal in 2008 where the visitor would continue to receive 20 percent until 2013. Now, through the end of the contract in 2017, the home team keeps all gate revenue.

The previous arrangement favored Iowa State, which has a smaller stadium. The Cyclones earned $2,374,074 from gate revenue sharing over its last four trips to Iowa City. The Hawkeyes picked up $1,526,555 in its last four games at Jack Trice Stadium.

Iowa State also gave Iowa 20 percent of one average football gate. Iowa wrote a check for 20 percent of the specific Cy-Hawk game.

Future Cy-Hawk games are scheduled for: Sept. 13, 2014; Sept. 12, 2015; Sept. 10, 2016; Sept. 9, 2017.
