The Miami Dolphins say rookie linebacker A.J. Edds will miss the entire season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
Edds was hurt during practice in the team's indoor bubble on the fourth day of training camp Monday. Coach Tony Sparano confirmed the severity of the injury Tuesday.
Edds, a fourth-round draft pick from Iowa, was projected to help at inside linebacker in third-down situations this season. Seventh-round pick Austin Spitler, who has missed practice time because of illness, will likely move into Edds' backup role.
