Campbell destroys Iowa men

Iowa failed to mount any resistance against Campbell center Eric Griffin or any other Campbell player Wednesday night.
The Camels (5-0) was better in every facet against the Hawkeyes in a 77-61 win at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Griffin scored 23 points on 10-of-11 shooting, grabbed 13 rebounds and blocked six shots against Iowa.
Campbell shot 62.2 percent from the floor. Iowa shot 36.4 percent.
Matt Gatens scored 17 points and Devyn Marble scored 14 for Iowa.

IOWA CITY - Iowa's sluggish play from Sunday's big loss to Creighton drifted over to tonight's game against Campbell at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Campbell (4-0) leads Iowa 38-31 at halftime tonight. The score is a bit misleading, however. At one point Campbell sliced through Iowa for an 18-4 run and led by 16 points at 38-22 with 2:59 left. Iowa finished the half on a 9-0 run.
Campbell shot 60 percent from the floor in the first half. Center Eric Griffin scored 12 points, grabbed eight rebounds and blocked three shots in the first half. Campbell scored 20 points in the paint against Iowa's less-than-stellar interior defense. At one point the Camels scored on 10 of 11 possessions.
Iowa's three primary post players - Devon Archie, Andrew Brommer and Zach McCabe - all had two fouls. Brommer returned after missing the last two games and three of the last four with a sprained knee. As in the past, Brommer was hit with early foul calls and was charged with both fouls within two minutes of entering the game.
Matt Gatens leads Iowa with nine points. He scored seven of the Hawkeyes' nine points during Iowa's late run.
Iowa point guard Bryce Cartwright was benched for nearly eight minutes after taking a bad shot. He finished the half with two points, two assists, two turnovers and two rebounds. Devyn Marble added six points for Iowa in 14 minutes.
