Big Ten basketball coaches talk about a different type of expansion

Big Ten basketball coaches talked about a different kind of expansion on Monday -- the league schedule.

"I think the question is, will you ever get up to 20?" asked Illinois Coach Bruce Weber. "I think that would be the question. That was the thing when they went to 18, we didn't want to be the Lone Ranger going out there on our own and the other part we wanted to know how it's going to affect our RPI in the long run."

Weber said if the league expands with more teams and chooses to bump up the league schedule to 20 that could impact the Big Ten's NCAA Tournament representation.

"When you look at it, the more wins you have, the better off you are," Weber said. "It may be great for TV to play great games, but if the committee is not looking at that, and they're looking at wins, then it becomes a tough thing."
