Aaron White's double-double paces Iowa in debut win

Freshman Aaron White had a double-double in his Iowa debut, and sophomore Zach McCabe notched 13 off the bench to lead Iowa past Chicago State 96-53 tonight at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
White, who did not start, scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in 18 minutes to pace Iowa. McCabe, a forward, played only 16 minutes.
Melsahn Basabe scored 14 points and Eric May added 12.
Iowa had dropped its previous openers the last two seasons.

HALFTIME STORY
Iowa forced 17 Chicago State first-half turnovers and the Hawkeyes lead 43-20 at halftime at Carver-Hawkeye Arena tonight.
The Cougars had turnovers on their first six possessions, and the Hawkeyes took a 10-0 lead. The Hawkeyes stretched it throughout the half.
Iowa, conversely, has only five turnovers. But Iowa is shooting just 3-of-14 from 3-point range against Chicago State's primary 2-3 zone.
Aaron White has 13 points and five rebounds in his Iowa debut. Zach McCabe has six.
Iowa outscored Chicago State 18-2 in points off turnovers. All 20 of Chicago State's points were in the paint.
