2nd Session of Midlands Championships

We're starting with a full round of consolation first. It's the fourth round of consis. Starting the second session the team scores are as follows:
1. Iowa 46.5, 2. Iowa State 42.5, 3. Missouri 41.5, 4. Central Michigan 32.5, 5. Lehigh 31.5
Krutsinger (iowa) vs. Deardon (ISU) and Flores (UNI) vs. Mele (NW) up now. Flores wins by decision.
Krutsinger wins big and advances. jauch (UNI) is up against Marble (Bucknell). Marble beats jauch.
Krutsinger and Flores will face off in the next round of consolations.
I'll inform you once the Quarters start I will be focusing on those matches so I may not have thorough results from the consis when quarters start.
They just announed that Derek St. John will receive a forfeit this round.
Montell Marion (IA) wrestling Cole Schmitt (Wisky) and up 2-1 late in first. Marion up 5-3 with 20 secs left in 2nd. Schmitt almost hips Marion to his back, but only gets T2. Marion wins, 7-4.
Luther's Kevin Bokoski vs. Mizzou's Luke Cherep going on; ISU's Max Mayfield has riding time locked up late in an 8-8 battle with Purdue's Jake Fleckenstein. Fleckenstein with four-point move to win 12-9.
UNI's Hoffman up 4-3 on Garrett Drucker of Oregon St. to start third.
Jake Kerr (IA) is up against Brantley hooks (Bucknell). Hooks eliminated Matt Ballweg earlier, 5-2. Kerr wins by decision.
Beets (UNI) vs. Porter (Mizzou) going on now at 174. Beets wins 11-6.
Merritt (St. Cloud St.) defeats Josh terrell (Dubuque)
Evan Brown (Dubuque) has the #8 seed Jake Young (UT-Chattanooga) now at 174.
Gambrall (Iowa) is down 5-1 early to #10 josh Patterson (Binghampton) at 184. Gambrall cuts deficit to 5-3 and then blocks a throw attempt, getting 5-pt. move. Adds a tilt for NF3. Gambrall up 11-5. Gambrall wins by major.
Andy O'Loughlin (UNI) wins by decision over gabe Youel (North Central), 3-0.
Luke Lofthouse (IA) beats Bonin (UNI). Lofthouse advances in the consis.
QUARTERFINALS BEGIN!!!!!!!
Andrew Long (ISU) vs. Steintrager (Cent Mich) at 125. Long with pin in 2:15.
McDonough (IA) vs. #6 Kjar (Utah Valley). Hwts spill onto McD/Kjar's mat and roll up the back of McD's leg. Everyone OK and restart. McD wins, 8-3.

fanthorpe wins for ISU; Slaton advances with dec. over nauman of Pitt.
Prater beats LeClere, 6-0.

Here's the gist after the seocnd session. Iowa leads Iowa State, 100-92.5. Iowa has seven in the semis and 3 in the wrestlebacks. Iowa State has six semifinalists and three in the wrestlebacks. The teams have three very key head-to-head, including Ryan Morningstar/Jon Reader at 165, Jay Borschel/Duke Burke at 174 and Jake Varner/Chad Beatty at 197.
UNI is 17th with two alive in the wrestleback.
The early session begins at noon tomorrow. Should be a fun day.
