IOWA CITY — Two days after true freshman wide receiver Reece Vander Zee’s eye-opening college football debut, he is officially listed as a starter on Iowa football’s Week 2 depth chart.
Williamsburg native Kaden Wetjen and Northwestern transfer Jacob Gill are Iowa’s other first-team wide receivers.
Kaleb Brown, who was third on the team with 22 receptions in 2023, is listed as a second-team wide receiver following his one-game suspension. The other second-team wide receivers are redshirt freshmen Jarriett Buie and Terrell Washington Jr.
Vander Zee had five receptions for 66 yards and two touchdowns in the Hawkeyes’ 40-0 win over Illinois State. Gill, with three receptions for 46 yards, was the only other Iowa wide receiver to have any catches in the win.
Elsewhere on the depth chart, Kaleb Johnson moved from third-team running back to second team after his two-touchdown performance against Illinois State. Kamari Moulton remains the first-team running back, and Leshon Williams now is the third-team running back.
Iowa did not have any changes to its Week 2 depth chart on defense. On special teams, Wetjen is listed as Iowa’s punt returner; Johnson and Wetjen are both listed at kick returner. Ty Nissen is Iowa’s holder.
