IOWA CITY — Sporting News named Iowa linebacker Jack Campbell a first-team All-American and Iowa safety Kaevon Merriweather a second-teamer Tuesday.
Campbell also has earned first-team All-America honors from the Walter Camp Football Foundation, Football Writers Association of America and Associated Press.
He will become a unanimous consensus All-American if the American Football Coaches Association also gives him a first-team nod.
Campbell also has received the Butkus Award and William V. Campbell Trophy along with Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year honors from both the conference and AP.
Merriweather earned second-team All-America honors from AP as well.
The safety allowed an NFL passer rating of 11.7, according to Pro Football Focus — the lowest rating of any defensive back with at least 200 coverage snaps in 2022.
