IOWA CITY — Iowa linebacker Jack Campbell is a unanimous All-American after earning a first-team spot on all five of the preeminent All-America teams.
The American Football Coaches Association unveiled its All-America team Wednesday, which clinched the honor for Iowa’s star linebacker.
Campbell is the 13th Iowa football player all-time and the third Hawkeye in the last three seasons to earn unanimous All-America honors. Tyler Linderbaum earned the honor in 2021 and Daviyon Nixon did the same in 2020.
The Cedar Falls native clinched consensus All-America status Monday after earning a first-team spot on the first three of the five major All-America teams. Iowa now has had a consensus All-American in four consecutive seasons — a program first.
Campbell is in rare company as a consensus All-American linebacker from Iowa, joining Larry Station (1984 and 1985) and Josey Jewell (2017).
The five first-team All-America honors add to a growing list of accolades for Campbell. He is the first Iowa winner of the William V. Campbell Trophy and the Butkus Award.
Campbell was a semifinalist for the Bednarik Award and Rotary Lombardi Award although he did not make the cut as a finalist.
He also earned Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year honors from both the conference and the Associated Press.
