IOWA CITY — Iowa wide receiver Jacob Bostick has entered the transfer portal, he announced Tuesday morning on social media.
The 6-foot-2 wideout from Palatine, Ill., appeared in five games in 2023, but he did not have any receptions in his two seasons in Iowa City.
“I’m excited to take this leap of faith into this next chapter,” Bostick said in his social media post.
Bostick, a former three-star recruit in the 2022 recruiting class, joins offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor as the first two Iowa players to enter the transfer portal since the second window opened on Tuesday. (Proctor’s move had been anticipated since last month, but it could not become official until this week.)
The Hawkeyes have faced significant attrition at the wide receiver position in recent years. Six of Iowa’s eight remaining scholarship players at wide receiver are either redshirt freshmen or true freshmen.
The latest portal departures bring Iowa’s scholarship count down to 89 — now only four spots over the limit with four-plus months to go until the 2024 season.
Athletes have until April 30 to enter the portal although there is no deadline for when they need to make a decision. Iowa’s spring practices conclude on April 20. Athletes who have graduated are exempt from the portal windows.
