Iowa walk-on quarterback Tommy Poholsky enters transfer portal

IOWA CITY — Iowa walk-on quarterback Tommy Poholsky is entering the transfer portal, he announced Monday on social media.

Tommy Poholsky, the son of late Hayden Fry-era quarterback Tom Poholsky, arrived on campus as a walk-on in 2023 and did not appear in any games. He has four years of eligibility remaining.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the University of Iowa, forming close bonds with both coaches and teammates,” Poholsky said on social media. “This year has been incredibly rewarding, and I am grateful for the experiences and lessons."

His departure, coupled with Deacon Hill’s portal entry last week, leaves the Hawkeyes with only three quarterbacks on the 2024 roster — Cade McNamara, Marco Lainez and incoming freshman James Resar.
