IOWA CITY — Iowa tight end Gavin Hoffman will be entering the transfer portal, he announced Thursday afternoon on social media.
Hoffman, a four-star recruit in the 2024 recruiting class, did not see any game action in his one season with the Hawkeyes. He chose Iowa over scholarship offers from Tennessee, Auburn, Missouri, Nebraska and other power-conference programs.
“I appreciate all the time and effort you poured into my development,” Hoffman said to his Iowa coaches in a social media post that also thanked support staff, teammates and his Lord and Savior. “I am truly grateful for all that you did for my family and me.”
Hoffman’s departure leaves the Hawkeyes with five tight ends on their spring roster and another three who will arrive in June as incoming freshmen. Seven of the eight remaining tight ends are on scholarship.
The 6-foot-5, 237-pound tight end has four years of eligibility remaining. He can officially enter the portal on April 16, when the 15-day spring window begins.
