IOWA CITY — The most outstanding center in college football plays for the No. 23 Iowa Hawkeyes.
Center Logan Jones won the Rimington Trophy Friday night, the national collegiate football award for the best center. Jones earned the finalist nod earlier this month.
“It’s an absolute honor to be recongized as this year’s Rimington Trophy recipient,” Jones said to Hawkeye Athletics. “It’s humbling to join the great winners who came before me.”
Jones is an All-Big Ten First Team selection this season, and a member of Iowa’s offensive line — which is a finalist for the Joe Moore Award. The Council Bluffs native was initially recruited to Iowa as a defensive lineman, before making the switch to the offensive line in 2022.
He’s started in at least 12 games every season at center since 2022.
“Having Logan as the anchor of our offensive line is a tremendous asset for our football team,” Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz said. “He’s worked tirelessly to become one of the nation’s best players ... He plays with a tenacity that sets the tone for the entire roster.”
Jones was also a finalist for the Outland Trophy, given to the best interior lineman in the country. He was also named to the 2025 Walter Camp All-America First Team in the same position, along with returner/wide receiver Kaden Wetjen, who received the honor as a return specialist.
