IOWA CITY — The question of who’s starting at left tackle has finally been answered.
Well, sort of.
Iowa football’s Week 1 depth chart was revealed Monday afternoon, answering some long-awaited questions lingering throughout training camp.
Jack Dotzler was listed first at left tackle, with an “or” for Trevor Lauck right underneath.
Dotzler and Lauck will play alongside Kade Pieper, Logan Jones, Gennings Dunker and Beau Stephens — all of whom create a veteran offensive line to protect quarterback Mark Gronowski.
Head coach Kirk Ferentz said both Dotzler and Lauck showed significant improvement at left tackle throughout training camp, separating themselves as the top two options by the end of fall camp.

“They’re still going back and forth and both doing a good job,” Ferentz said on Thursday. “The good news is both have really improved a lot.”
The two also are listed as options at right tackle with the same “or” listed between them.
Kamari Moulton and Terrell Washington Jr. were both listed atop the running back chart, as expected. The two also have an “or” separating them.
Sam Phillips, a junior transfer from Chattanooga, also earned a starting job at wide receiver over sophomore Reece Vander Zee. Phillips led the Southern Conference with 823 receiving yards and averaged 16.5 yards per catch last season before transferring to the Hawkeyes. Seth Anderson and Jacob Gill earned the other receiver spots to start the season.
TJ Hall and Deshaun Lee both are named starters for left and right cornerback, respectively. Jaylen Watson sits as the top secondary option for both positions.
Iowa football kicks off its season Saturday against Albany at 5 p.m. inside Kinnick Stadium.
