IOWA CITY — Steven Stilianos was Iowa football’s fourth-string tight end at this time a month ago.
Now as injuries pile up at his position, Stilianos is the Hawkeyes’ first-team tight end on their weekly depth chart ahead of the Minnesota game.
Tight end Erick All is unsurprisingly not listed after exiting the Wisconsin game with an injury. He was later seen on the sidelines with crutches.
Fellow tight end Addison Ostrenga has been recovering from an injury. Kirk Ferentz initially said Ostrenga had a “chance” to play against Wisconsin before saying later in the week that a Week 8 return against Minnesota was “more realistic.”
The Hawkeyes already were without Luke Lachey, who is “most likely” done for the season after needing surgery last month.
Second-team cornerbacks Deshaun Lee and T.J. Hall are not listed on the depth chart after missing the Wisconsin game. Should something happen to Cooper DeJean or Jermari Harris, Iowa’s options would include Brenden Deasfernandes and Deavin Hilson.
Monday’s depth chart release comes with a significant caveat. The depth chart Iowa releases at the beginning of the week has not always been an accurate indicator of whether someone will play on Saturday.
Kaleb Johnson, for example, was not on the Week 6 depth chart, but then played 25 snaps against Purdue, according to Pro Football Focus.
More details on All and Ostrenga’s statuses are expected Tuesday, when Kirk Ferentz holds his weekly news conference.
