Purdue announced Friday that there will be a heavy wind advisory in place during Saturday’s Big Ten football game between the Boilermakers (5-3, 3-2) and the Iowa Hawkeyes (4-4, 2-3). It might be tougher than usual to predict this one.
Here are our predictions, plus viewing information and complete pregame coverage.
Iowa vs. Purdue predictions
Line — Purdue -3.5
Mike Hlas — Directions to West Lafayette: Drive to Lafayette. Turn west. Iowa 21, Purdue 20
John Steppe — My mother is an Indiana grad, so hopefully she doesn’t see I’m picking Purdue until after she’s done with birthday and Christmas shopping. Thankfully, Milwaukee is outside our distribution area. Oh wait, this pick goes online, too. Purdue 17, Iowa 16
Jeff Johnson — They tell me the OTB in Danville, Ill., is closed now. That used to be a favorite stopping point for Gazetters driving to West Lafayette to cover the Iowa-Purdue football game. Purdue 28, Iowa 14
Rob Gray — Purdue has the nation’s 13th-best passing offense and Iowa boasts the 10th-best passing defense. Biggest question: Can the Hawkeyes’ offense operate efficiently against anyone but Northwestern? Purdue 21, Iowa 13
Beth Malicki — Just as it’s darkest before the dawn, my house is cleanest right before the in-laws arrive. Purdue 22, Iowa 13
Todd Brommelkamp — Kirk Ferentz says we’ll never know how Charlie Jones would have looked this year at Iowa. I’ve got a pretty good idea and so should you. Purdue 19, Iowa 17
