IOWA CITY — Iowa football has sold out its Sept. 2 season opener against Utah State, the athletic department announced Friday in a news release.
It marks the fifth sellout of the season. Iowa sold out its games against Western Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue and Minnesota a couple hours after single-game tickets went on sale to the general public Thursday.
The Hawkeyes’ Nov. 11 game against Rutgers and Nov. 18 game against Illinois are the only ones with tickets still remaining. It is not a surprise to see the later-month games take longer to sell out.
“September and October typically are games that sell better early because of weather,” deputy athletics director Matt Henderson previously told The Gazette.
