Iowa football, ranked 25th in preseason coaches’ poll, plays just one ranked team
Five other Big Ten teams are ranked, but Hawkeyes face Ohio State and avoid the other four

Iowa is 25th in the coaches’ preseason college football Top 25.
The Hawkeyes are one of just three of the 25 ranked teams that play just one team ranked in the poll. That’s Ohio State, which Iowa faces in Columbus on Oct. 5.
Michigan, Ohio State and USC face four ranked teams, while Oregon and Penn State meet two apiece.
Here is the Top 25 with the number of ranked teams they are slated to face:

2. Ohio State 4 (Iowa, at Oregon, at Penn State, Michigan)
3. Oregon 2 (Ohio State, at Michigan)

5. Alabama 4
6. Ole Miss 3

9. Penn State 2 (at USC, Ohio State)

16. Oklahoma 6

The SEC has nine ranked teams, the Big Ten six, the ACC and Big 12 four apiece.
