IOWA CITY — Iowa cornerback John Nestor will enter the transfer portal, he announced Tuesday afternoon on social media.
Nestor appeared in 10 games last season as one of the Hawkeyes’ second-team cornerbacks. The sophomore from Chicago allowed 11 receptions on 14 targets, according to Pro Football Focus. He also appeared in 10 games as a true freshman.
“One of the best teammates I’ve ever been around,” said Cooper DeJean, the NFL defensive back and former Hawkeye, in a tweet. “Any team would be lucky to have this dude.”
Nestor’s departure comes on the eve of Iowa’s first spring practice and on the same day that walk-on running back Max White entered the portal. Nestor has two years of eligibility remaining.
