It’s fun to stay at the U-C-L-A. So here are Fun Facts for Friday night’s Iowa-UCLA football game:
1. UCLA has won games in the Eastern, Central and Hawaii time zones this season, but not the Pacific.
2. The Bruins have been outscored in their three home games (Indiana, Oregon, Minnesota) by a total of 97-43.
3. The 58 rushing yards of Brendan Sullivan last Saturday against Wisconsin were the most by an Iowa quarterback since C.J. Beathard had 77 against Iowa State in 2015.
4. The Hawkeyes have scored 40 points four times, matching their total in the previous four seasons combined.
5. UCLA quarterback Ethan Garbers threw three touchdown passes in both of his last two games.
6. Iowa’s Kaleb Johnson has 1,279 rushing yards in nine games. Last year, the Big Ten leader for the entire season was Rutgers’ Kyle Monangai, with 1,262.
7. Ashton Jeanty of Boise State leads the nation in rushing touchdowns, with 20 in eight games. Quarterback Bryson Daily of Army has 19 in seven games, Tennessee’s Dylan Sampson has 19 in eight games, and Johnson has 19 in nine games.
8. Iowa is last in the Big Ten in passing, with 133.8 yards per game.
9. The Hawkeyes have won 19 of their last 20 November games.
10. Iowa has outscored opponents by 9.4 points per game. UCLA has been outscored by 9.3 points per game.
11. This is the first meeting between Iowa and UCLA since the Bruins won the 1986 Rose Bowl, 45-28.
12. On Friday, it will be the 24,053rd day since Iowa’s last win in Pasadena, a 38-12 Rose Bowl win over California on Jan. 1, 1959.
