IOWA CITY — Former Wake Forest quarterback Jeremy Hecklinski has committed to Iowa football, the quarterback told the recruiting outlet On3 on Wednesday afternoon.
The 6-foot-0, 185-pound quarterback joins the Hawkeyes after one season with the Demon Deacons. He appeared in one game as a true freshman, taking three snaps in Wake Forest’s loss to North Carolina. He was originally a three-star recruit with offers from UCF, Wake Forest, Georgia Southern and Eastern Kentucky.
Hecklinski follows former Wake Forest offensive coordinator Warren Ruggiero, who now is an analyst on Iowa’s staff. He visited Iowa earlier this week.
The Marietta, Ga., native has four years of eligibility remaining. Iowa had the ability to add at the position after former Northwestern transfer Brendan Sullivan’s reentry into the portal earlier this spring.
Hecklinski joins a quarterback room headlined by South Dakota State transfer Mark Gronowski. Others include Auburn transfer Hank Brown, walk-on Jackson Stratton and incoming freshmen Jimmy Sullivan and Ryan Fitzgerald.
