IOWA CITY — Kadyn Proctor, the former five-star offensive line recruit from Southeast Polk High School, has entered the transfer portal after one year at Alabama.
Proctor, who initially committed to Iowa as a high school recruit before flipping his commitment to the Crimson Tide, is now available for the Hawkeyes (or any other team) to re-recruit him.
He started in every game for Alabama at left tackle in 2023 despite being a true freshman. He earned all-SEC freshman team honors after the season.
The first transfer portal window closed earlier this month, but Proctor was allowed to enter the portal because of Alabama’s head coaching change.
If Proctor chooses the Hawkeyes — where he already has friends on the team, including high school teammate Xavier Nwankpa — it would be an obvious boon for the offensive line. While Proctor’s decision to spurn Iowa left many fans with a bitter taste, Iowa’s staff did not burn its bridge with the talented in-state recruit.
“We have the 24-hour rule after losses and losing recruits,” Iowa football recruiting director Tyler Barnes said in 2022. “Yeah, it stinks. … You guys have to do what’s best for you, and honestly, in this day and age in the transfer portal, who knows what the future holds.”
