IOWA CITY — Former Iowa tight end standout Dallas Clark will soon see his name etched along the perimeter of the Lucas Oil Stadium seating bowl.
The Indianapolis Colts will induct Clark into their Ring of Honor, the team announced this week.
Clark spent nine of his 11 NFL seasons with the Colts and amassed 427 receptions and 46 touchdowns — franchise records for a tight end — as he became one of Peyton Manning’s go-to targets. His 4,887 receiving yards were second-best among tight ends in Colts history, trailing only John Mackey’s 5,126 yards.
The former Hawkeye was part of a formidable Indianapolis receiving corps that also included Reggie Wayne and Marvin Harrison. The Colts won 12 or more games in Clark’s first seven seasons in Indianapolis.
“In today's game, tight ends have become so much more dynamic and important to the offensive side of the ball, and Dallas was one of the pioneers with his style of play,” Colts owner Jim Irsay said in a statement. “He was electrifying, tough and dependable on the field and a great teammate and person off the field.”
The official induction will occur during the Colts’ Week 7 game against the Miami Dolphins on Oct. 20.
The news of Clark’s upcoming honor came on the same day that Clark was one of 77 former FBS players included on the ballot for the 2025 College Football Hall of Fame. Voting will occur this summer, and the 2025 class will be unveiled in “early 2025, with specific details to be announced in the future,” according to the news release.
