WEST DES MOINES — Kirk Ferentz told reporters on Tuesday the Hawkeyes are “in good shape” at wide receiver. It’s clear now why.
The Hawkeyes picked up a commitment from ex-Northwestern wide receiver Jacob Gill, he announced Tuesday on social media.
Gill recorded 16 receptions for 195 yards and two touchdowns in his three seasons with the Wildcats. The former three-star recruit saw a significantly smaller role in 2023 after seeing action in all 24 games of his first two years in Evanston.
Gill will reunite with former Northwestern quarterback Brendan Sullivan, who committed to the Hawkeyes last week. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
“We obviously had a need at a couple of positions, and I think we’ve added two players that are going to be good additions to our team,” Ferentz said Tuesday. “And they’ll come in and compete.”
