IOWA CITY — The Big Ten Conference has issued a “public reprimand” to Iowa wide receiver Nico Ragaini for his profane comments about the officiating in Iowa’s 20-13 win over Iowa State.
Ragaini described the lack of defensive pass interference on an intercepted pass as a “horse s--- f------ call” while talking to reporters Tuesday.
The Big Ten cited its sportsmanship policy — which calls for “integrity of the competition, civility toward all, and respect, particularly toward opponents and officials” — in a statement sent to media Wednesday afternoon.
Ragaini released a statement through Iowa sports information Wednesday apologizing for his "public criticism of Saturday’s officiating.“
“I am a competitive person and player,” Ragaini said. “My comments reflected my passion for the game, and I apologize for my choice of language.”
The Big Ten said in its statement it “considers this matter concluded.”
