As double-digit dogs, Hawkeyes have been the ones getting bitten
Iowa got walloped in 4 of its last 5 games as 10-point-or-more underdog, and now it’s a 10-point dog at Wisconsin Saturday

The point spread for Saturday’s Iowa-Wisconsin game has gone up to Badgers -10 at most sportsbooks, including BetRivers.
That, as you may imagine, doesn’t bode especially well for the Hawkeyes.
The last five times they were a double-digit underdog, they not only lost the game but failed to cover the spread. They were only close to covering once in those five.
Here are those games, the lines, and the scores:
Year | Opponent | Line | Score |
2023 | at Penn State | 14 | 31-0 |
2022 | at Ohio State | 29 | 54-10 |
2022 | Michigan | 10 | 27-14 |
2021 | vs. Michigan | 11 | 42-3 |
2017 | at Wisconsin | 11 | 38-14 |
The last time Iowa covered as a double-digit dog was the game before that 2017 shellacking at Wisconsin in which the Hawkeyes’ two touchdowns were on Josh Jackson interception returns.
You may recall it. Iowa was an 18-point dog at home against unbeaten Ohio State. The Hawkeyes won, 55-24.
Fifty-five points against a team that was ranked No. 3 in the nation and went on to be Big Ten champions. Six years later, that’s still insane. Iowa hasn’t topped 33 points in its last 20 conference games.
