IOWA CITY — Connor Colby’s football journey has taken him from Cedar Rapids to Iowa City, and now to San Francisco.
The 49ers selected the Iowa offensive lineman in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL draft with the 249th overall pick.
Colby, a former Cedar Rapids Kennedy standout, started 50 games for the Hawkeyes in four seasons in Iowa City. The all-Big Ten first-team honoree is Iowa’s second offensive lineman drafted on Saturday, following left tackle (and fellow seventh-round selection) Mason Richman.
“Needed some Iowa in the locker room!!!” 49ers tight end and Iowa alum George Kittle said in a tweet after the pick.
