State volleyball 2025: After seven straight losing seasons, Iowa City West is back in the state tournament behind a new coach and a mixture of veterans and newcomers.
Eight area teams have qualified for the state volleyball tournament, and many are regulars. Our championship picks: Waukee Northwest, Clear Creek Amana, Western Christian, Denver and Janesville.

High school football teams play in the Iowa High School Athletic Association playoffs. All seven classes will compete in the Round of 16 for a spot in the state quarterfinals.
Eighth-ranked Iowa City West advanced to the state volleyball tournament for the first time since 2016 by dispatching crosstown rival Iowa City Liberty for the third time this season, 25-19, 25-22, 22-25, 25-17, in a Class 5A regional final Tuesday night at Iowa City West High School.
