Iowa City Regina feasted on a steady diet of rushes in the second half and beat top-ranked Grundy Center, 21-12, in a Class 1A state football semifinal Friday at UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls. The Regals snapped the Spartans 50-game win streak.

“It didn’t matter if it was home or away games,” Regina senior quarterback Kyle Tracy said. “He meant a lot to this team. This game was for him.”
High school football teams play in the Iowa High School Athletic Association playoffs. All seven classes will compete in the Round of 16 for a spot in the state quarterfinals.
