The Cougars claimed 10 weights and defeated Iowa City Liberty, 54-21, in a boys wrestling dual Thursday night at Kennedy. Liberty won the girls’ dual, 62-18.
Class 2A No. 6 Alburnett won the first eight matches, including seven with bonus points, and rolled to a 51-21 dual victory over No. 12 Mount Vernon Thursday night at home.
Down by as many as 18 points in the first half, Iowa (18-3 overall, 9-1 Big Ten) cut the deficit to 52-49 when Journey Houston scored on a behind-the-back transition feed from Taylor Stremlow at the 5:30 mark of the third period.
