Thune backs Romney, campaigns with him in Iowa

Nov. 23, 2011 9:10 am
Hoping to expand his Midwest appeal, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney has picked up the support of U.S. Sen. John Thune, R-S.D.
Thune solidified his endorsement by appearing with Romney at an event in Iowa today where the former governor is waging a low-key effort to score well in the nation's lead-off caucuses Jan. 3 against a field of competing GOP social and religious conservatives.
“The next election will be the most important in generations,” Thune said in a statement. “We can choose to continue on the same path with four more years of President Obama's failed policies or we can choose a leader who has the needed experience to lead an economic recovery."
