What to know: Friday’s winner can lay claim to the mythical state championship, at least for now. Both teams have beaten Iowa State, and Iowa owns a road victory over Drake (UNI plays Drake twice in Missouri Valley Conference play).
Iowa has won eight consecutive games against in-state foes.
Where is Iowa women's basketball ranked?
The Hawkeyes leads the all-time series, 26-3, and has won four straight games, including a 94-53 rout at Cedar Falls last year. UNI’s last win at Iowa City was Dec. 19, 2006.
Iowa is coming off a 68-66 loss at Michigan State on Sunday. The Hawkeyes are averaging 26.5 turnovers in their two losses, compared to 15.2 in their nine victories.
UNI ranks seventh nationally in 3-point percentage (.396). Kayba Laube is third in 3-point percentage (.522) and fourth in 3-pointers per game (3.6).
The Panthers’ Maya McDermott is eighth nationally in scoring (21.9 ppg).
McDermott (Johnston) and Laube (Marion) are two of 10 Iowans on the UNI roster.
