Two of Ben McCollum’s 2024-25 Drake University players announced Wednesday that they are following him to Iowa.
Cam Manyawu, a 6-foot-8, 230-pound junior-to-be from Kansas City, Mo., and 6-4 guard Kael Combs of Nixa, Mo., are joining McCollum and his Drake starting point guard, Bennett Stirtz. Both announcements were first reported by Eliot Clough of Hawkeye Beacon.
Both players spent a season at Wyoming before moving to Drake.
Manyawu started all 35 games for 31-4 Drake, averaging 7.1 points and a team-high 5.3 rebounds. He shot 57.8 percent from the field. He had 45 steals, and led the Bulldogs in blocked shots with 24.
He played in 31 games for Wyoming as a freshman, starting nine.
Combs averaged 3.8 points in 31 appearances for the Bulldogs in their 31-4 season of 2024-25. He played 13 minutes per game.
Combs has two years of eligibility remaining. He played his first season at Wyoming, where he averaged 2.6 points in 27 games.
He matched his career-high of 13 points in his last game with Drake, a 77-64 second-round NCAA tournament loss to Texas Tech. He played 23 minutes in the Bulldogs’ 67-57 NCAA first-round win over Missouri.
