What to know: It’s Iowa’s first game in eight days and only Iowa’s second game of the season against a nationally ranked team. The first was an 89-80 home loss to Iowa State on Dec. 12.

This is the seventh-straight time Purdue was ranked in the Top 10 when it played Iowa. The Hawkeyes’ last win over a Top Ten team was their victory over the Boilermakers in the 2022 Big Ten championship game.

This is the first game the Hawkeyes will play with center Owen Freeman sidelined for the rest of the season because of finger surgery.

The Hawkeyes have a chance for their First Quad 1 win. They are 0-7 in such games, 13-1 in all others.

Backup Iowa forward Seydou Traore is averaging 10 points over the last three games.

Purdue has won nine of its last 10 games, the latest an 81-76 triumph over Indiana Friday in West Lafayette. The Boilermakers have won their last four road games.

Boilermaker junior guard Braden Smith leads the Big Ten and is third in the nation in assists per game with 8.8. He also leads the conference in steals with 2,6 per game, and averages 15.8 points, second on his team to forward Trey Kaufman-Renn’s 18.4.

In conference games, Purdue leads the Big Ten in scoring defense at 66.4 points per game. Iowa is 18th at 84.9. The Boilermakers are the only Big Ten team that has made over 50 perccent of its shots in league play.

Purdue averaged just 9.0 turnovers per game in January while forcing 16.3.
