Pryce Sandfort of Waukee, a 4-star recruit for the 2023 class, has given a verbal commitment to the Iowa men’s basketball program.
Sandfort, a 6-foot-7 wing, joins brother Payton Sandfort, who played in 34 games for Iowa last season as a freshman and averaged 5.0 points per game.
Pryce Sandfort averaged 26.6 points and 10.3 rebounds at Waukee Northwest High last season as a junior. He made 40.5 percent of his 144 3-point tries. He was a first-team Class 4A all-state selection, as was Hawkeye freshman Josh Dix.
“Fran has told me before, he sees me coming in as a freshman and making 60 3s and having a big role right away,” Sandfort told Rivals.com. “Obviously, it's all up to me and how hard I work."
He joins power forward Owen Freeman of Bradley, Ill., and guard Brock Harding of Moline, Ill., in Iowa’s 2023 recruiting class. Freeman will be Harding’s teammate at Moline High this season.
Sandfort also had scholarship offers from Drake, Nebraska, Clemson, Seton Hall and Washington State.
