What to know: Iowa has clinched a double-bye into the quarterfinals of the Big Ten tournament.
The Hawkeyes can secure a 2-seed for the tournament with a win Sunday OR if Michigan loses at home Saturday to Maryland.
Iowa has won 31 consecutive games against Wisconsin, dating back to 2007.
Ava Heiden scored 28 points (in just 23 minutes) and Iowa won its fifth straight game Thursday, 82-78 over Illinois.The Hawkeyes overcame a six-point fourth-quarter deficit.
Heiden is the reigning Big Ten player of the week and has scored 100 points in the current four-game win streak. She has hit 46 of 62 field-goal attempts (74.2 percent) in that span.
When Wisconsin defeated then-ranked Nebraska on Jan. 21, the Badgers were 5-4 in the Big Ten. Since then, the schedule has become a beast — eight likely NCAA qualifiers and eight consecutive losses.
Cedar Rapids native Robin (Becker) Pingeton is in her first year at Wisconsin after stays at St. Ambrose, Illinois State and Missouri.
Pingeton was a 1986 graduate of Cedar Rapids Jefferson (she played for the late Larry Niemeyer) and played for Lisa Bluder at St. Ambrose, from which she graduated in 1990.
A 6-foot grad student (and a transfer from Howard University), Destiny Howell averages 13.8 points per game for the Badgers.
Iowa’s Taylor Stremlow (a native of Verona, Wis.) and Teagan Mallegni (McFarland, Wis.) both grew up within a half-hour from the Kohl Center.
